Recently TQA received the following shout out from Inclusion NL on twitter….
While it’s great to have the recognition, more importantly, this tweet is more about letting businesses know the services that are available, to make their businesses more welcoming to seniors and persons with disabilities.
Often how we think about disabilities is focused on wheelchairs, partially because the universal symbol of accessibility is a wheelchair! What if we thought beyond wheelchairs? Even if your business has stairs, you could take some small measures that would make a big difference for persons with disabilities. Consider a person with arthritis in their hands. Door knobs that require a twist motion of the wrist can make entry difficult for some travelers. Restaurant menus or accommodation registration forms that have small print can be difficult for those with vision problems. Heavy doors without door openers are pretty much difficult for everyone! Something as simple as adjusting the tension on a door can make access easier for all.
An accessibility audit from TQA can help you determine which items you can address immediately with very little cost, and those that you may wish to plan for during your next renovation.
